Elora Writers’ Festival

The Elora Writers’ Festival is this coming Sunday, April 26th from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. Come hear authors are Sonia Day, Terry Fallis, Carrie Snyder, Andrew Westall, Ailsa Kay, and Robert Rotenberg read from their latest books. The event will be held at the Elora Centre for the Arts. Friends of the Guelph Public Library presents Guelph Reads 2013 tonight at the main branch of the Guelph Public Library beginning at 7:00. All are welcome to come and hear four locals defend a favourite book:

Cathy Downer (Mediator, Provincial Returning Officer, and former City Council member) on Sanctuary Line by Jane Urquhart;

Barb Minett (Co-owner of The Bookshelf) on Our Story: Aboriginal Voices on Canada’s Past by Canadian aboriginal authors including Guelph’s Tom King;

Craig Norris (Host of CBC Radio’s Laugh Out Loud) on Harperland by Lawrence Martin; and

Trish Stevenson (Host of Rogers TV’s Inside Guelph) on How to be a Canadian by Will Ferguson.

Second Saturdays Writers Hang-Out

Our Second Saturdays writers hang-out is coming up this Saturday, May 11 from 7 PM until whenever. We will be meeting at The Albion again, because we have had requests for a more consistent location and The Albion seems like a good spot, considering that it is quiet enough for conversation but has a reasonable beer selection. All are welcome to join us for beer and conversation.
