GPL Launches Annual Teen Writing Contest

by jeremylukehill

The Guelph Public Library has launched the 2017 edition of its teen writing contest, and Vocamus Press is pleased to be partnering with them again to publish the winners of that contest in the annual ETCH anthology.

Local teens in grades 7 to 12 can submit their short stories to the It’s ALL Write: Teen Short Story Contest. The stories should be less than 1500 words and can be on any topic, though this year’s contest also features a special category for stories dedicated to the experience of being a newcomer, whether to a new school, community, city, or country.

Teens who are more artistically inclined can submit book cover designs to the Judge a Book by its Cover Teen Contest. The sky’s the limit! Paintings, drawings, photography, digital arts – you decide! The winning cover will be featured on the Etch anthology book to be released in June – plus you could win a Downtown Guelph gift certificate.

All submissions should be sent to teens@guelphpl.ca before 5:00 PM on Saturday, April 8th, 2017.
