Children’s Authors Wanted for Local Festival

by jeremylukehill

Friends of Vocamus Press and the Guelph Public Library are holding a Festival of Guelph Children’s Authors and Illustrators at the downtown GPL on Saturday, May 6, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The even will include readings and activities by local authors, along with face painting and balloon twisting.

We’re looking for Guelph-based authors and illustrators (self-published or professionally published) who are:

– comfortable interacting with the public (adults and kids)
– have a book they have published and will be able to bring some to sell
– will stay for the entirety of the event
– are able to setup at 10:30 AM and return for the event in the afternoon
– want a chance to promote and profile their work

Every participant will have a table to showcase their work. We also need folks to do one of the following:

– read their story and present their book to kids in an engaging way for 20 minutes (3 spots left)
– do a hands-on activity that would relate to your story or help kids become inspired with books, writing, drawing (5 spots left)

If this sounds like something that would interest you, please reply to Heather Embree at by Tuesday March 21.
