Vocamus Press is having a party on Saturday, May 13, 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Albion Hotel to celebrate the launch of Guelph Mercury Rising, a collection of short stories by former Guelph Mercury staff, edited by Phil Andrews.

Join us in celebrating the Guelph Mercury’s 149 year legacy with an afternoon of stories and memories from some of the paper’s former staff, memorabilia from the old newsroom, and a video by Sandy Clipsham about the paper’s closing and legacy.

There will be appearances by Mayor Cam Guthrie, MPP Liz Sandals, MP Lloyd Longfield, and former editor-in-chief of the Guelph Mercury Lynn Haddrall.

Guelph Mercury Rising includes short stories by Phil Andrews, Nicole Baute, Michael Troy Bridgeman, Kathleen Elliott, Ben Gelinas, Drew Halfnight, Deirdre Healey, Declan Kelly, Magda Konieczna, Laura Lawson, Greg Mercer, Alex Migdal, Brad Needham, Rob O’Flanagan, Maggie Petrushevsky, Chris Seto, Scott Tracey, Brian Whitwham, and Brian Williams. It also has bios from each of the contributors, explaining the roles they held at the Guelph Mercury and the new opportunities they’ve moved on to now.
