Kim Davids Mandar

A Guelphite since 1997, Kim Davids Mandar is abundantly grateful for this enriching, diverse and stimulating city. The natural beauty of Guelph reflects the beautiful friendships and community spirit that has been her privilege to enjoy.

Kim’s credentials range from degrees in applied linguistics and music therapy, certificates in education and instructional design to teaching English as a second language in Canada. As a learning junkie, her formal education has included fine institutions such as Queen’s University, Wilfrid Laurier University, The University of Saskatchewan, and Athabasca University. But junkie is as junkie does, so as you might expect, she learns constantly from the amazing experiences that life brings, including motherhood, family, community engagement and travel.

As a student in the Creative Writing program at The University of Guelph, Kim continues to explore poetry, fiction and creative non-fiction as her favourite media. Kim’s first children’s book about global migration — There is Beauty Here Because You Are Here — has been a fabulous collaboration with local artist Alura Sutherland, and the workshopping and publishing process is moving apace. Professional writing continues in her work as Content Co-ordinator for Best Version Media’s local magazine Neighbours of South End Guelph. Kim instructs at The Conestoga Language Institute — Conestoga College, in Kitchener.
